My Live Performance career in words and pictures:
My career began during the late 1970s in Alice Springs where I began to perform playing piano in local bands, then accompanying local singers.
In the mid 1980s I moved to Perth where I sang and played solo gigs around the city. After a few years I moved away from Perth and spent three years performing in night clubs in the Kalgoorlie area before travelling further north to Broome and across to Darwin.
In the early 1990s I moved to Townsville with my young family, and this is where I’ve lived ever since.
After initially finding it difficult to find work, I eventually secured a residency at the Sheraton Hotel and Casino (now ‘The Ville’) and played in their Lobby Bar four nights a week for two and a half years.
I then secured a residency at the brand new ‘Mad Cow Tavern’ playing late on Friday and Saturday nights. Apart from a couple of periods where I took a break, this residency lasted fourteen years and gave me the nickname of “The Pianoman”.
In the early 2000s, as well as my ongoing residency at the Mad Cow Tavern, I started working in Tasmania doing two month seasons several times a year at the casinos in Hobart and Launceston. For six years I travelled back and forth between Townsville and Tasmania, before settling permanently once again in North Queensland.
During the 2010s I did less residency work and started playing more venues, including weddings and local hotels, which I continue to do.
